"Authorization required" — what to do
This error usually means Google needs you to re-authorize Sheet to PDF — most often because we added a new scope, or because you haven't used the add-on in a while.
Fix it (30 seconds)
- Close the sidebar
- Go to Extensions → Sheet to PDF → Open sidebar again
- Google shows the authorization screen — click Continue
- Pick your Google account
- Review the requested permissions and click Allow
- The sidebar opens normally
What permissions are we asking for?
Sheet to PDF uses Google's least-privilege drive.file scope, which is the most restrictive option available. We only see:
- Files you explicitly open or create with our add-on (templates you pick, folders you choose)
- The current sheet's content (column headers + data, to generate PDFs)
- Your email address (to identify your account)
We do not have access to:
- Other files in your Drive
- Your Gmail, Calendar, or other Google services
- Any content you don't explicitly share with us
Still seeing the error after re-authorizing?
Try in incognito / different browser
Sometimes browser cache holds an old session. Open Google Sheets in a private window and try there.
Reset the OAuth grant manually
- Go to myaccount.google.com/permissions
- Find "Sheet to PDF" in the list
- Click it → Remove access
- Reopen the sidebar in any sheet — you'll re-authorize fresh
